Abstract:

A 49-year male patient with type 2 diabetes mellitus with diabetic foot syndrome was evaluated by comprehensive diabetic foot assessment. Photobiomodulation therapy (low-level laser therapy) was prescribed for neuropathic pain and symptoms with scanning and probe method for 10 sessions. Customized insoles were recommended for redistributing the plantar pressures and reducing stress on the diabetic footchr('39')s plantar surface for 4 weeks. Dynamic plantar pressure distribution, lower limb kinematics, and postural sway were evaluated using WinTrack dynamic pressure platform. Photobiomodulation therapy with customized insoles is useful in the redistribution and treatment of plantar pressure and gait kinematics. It should be used extensively in diabetic foot syndrome as both preventive and treatment measures.

The Effect of Different Types of Foot Orthoses on Foot Plantar Pressure in Subjects with Plantar Fasciitis: A Literature Review

Objective Plantar fasciitis is a plantar fascia inflammation and one of the most common causes of heel pain, causing pain in the inner side of the heel bone. The purpose of this investigation was to analyze the effect of different foot orthoses on the distribution of foot pressure in patients with plantar fasciitis. Materials & Methods The systematic search of PubMed, Science Direct and Web of...

Effectiveness of insoles on plantar pressure redistribution.

For this study, we compared the effectiveness of different design insoles for redistributing pressure during walking for diabetic patients and for normal control subjects. Comparisons of dynamic plantar foot pressure patterns were made with different support, including shoe-only, flat insole, and three contoured insoles. We custom-molded the three contoured insoles by casting the plantar surfac...

Custom therapeutic insoles based on both foot shape and plantar pressure measurement provide enhanced pressure relief.

OBJECTIVE The purpose of this study was to determine whether custom insoles tailored to contours of the barefoot pressure distribution and shape of a patient's foot can reduce plantar pressures in the metatarsal head (MTH) region to a greater extent than conventional custom insoles. RESEARCH DESIGN AND METHODS Seventy regions of elevated barefoot pressures (mean peak 834 kPa under MTHs) were ...

Estimation of Foot Plantar Center of Pressure Trajectories with Low-Cost Instrumented Insoles Using an Individual-Specific Nonlinear Model

Postural control is a complex skill based on the interaction of dynamic sensorimotor processes, and can be challenging for people with deficits in sensory functions. The foot plantar center of pressure (COP) has often been used for quantitative assessment of postural control. Previously, the foot plantar COP was mainly measured by force plates or complicated and expensive insole-based measureme...

The Usefulness of Therapeutic Diabetic Footwear and Insoles in Diabetic Foot Treatment- A Narrative Review

Orthosis and prosthesis is an expert knowledge in medical field including the design, fabrication and utilizing of orthosis and prosthesis. An orthosis is a device made of different types of material (plastic, aluminum, foam, leather, etc.) used externally on body segments to modify the structural or functional characteristics of musculoskeletal system to objectives such as: reducing pain, rest...

Treatment of Diabetic Foot Ulcer (DFU) with Pharmaceutical Product using Hirudo orientalis: A Case Report

Every 30 seconds, one lower limb amputation due to diabetes is performed in the world. This study was conducted on a 64-year-old woman with a diabetic foot on her left leg [Sci Rew1] . The patient had pain with a visual analog scale (VAS) score of 80 mm on 100 mm. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of a product derived from leeches in the treatment of DFUs. Wound grade 1 according to Wagne...
